It is not uncommon for family to be spread out all over the country. Children have the tendency to branch away from home, that sought after job may be cities away, and perhaps the grandparents are in Florida enjoying their retirement. Circumstances often conspire against the family minded individuals who want to visit their loved ones often.

There is not really any desirable way for people to visit family nowadays.

Families Traveling Together – Stay Together!

Airlines are nothing more than a huge hassle, trains and busses lack a certain amount of freedom and traveling long distances in a car is just like flushing money down the drain. The only viable option is the RV. RVs are a great, affordable way to see the family.

Traveling long distances is fun and easy by RV. You will be able to see parts of the country that would be just a blur if you had traveled by any other means.

Charting a course that is right for you is another great advantage. You do not have to make any unnecessary stops unless you want to. And the stops you do make will no doubt be fun and interesting.

Traveling by RV can save loads of money. Many RVs are equipped with full kitchens which will cut down on the cost of eating at restaurants or fast food joints. Expensive hotel rooms can be skipped altogether.

Many campgrounds are cheap by comparison and it would be a shame to let that bed go to waste. RVs are not the gas-guzzling super beasts that many believe them to be, either. Running on diesel or bio-diesel allows the RV to get more miles per gallon and keep fuel costs down.

When you do reach a family members’ house, there will be no threat of overstaying your welcome. You will be able to leave on a whim or stay as long as you like. If there is not a spare bedroom, you can save anyone from sleeping on the floor by sleeping in your RV. And a driveway is a free, convenient place to make camp.

Retirees are jumping at this option in order to spend time with family. RVs are fun and enjoyable, and the best option for many.

If the family scene does get to be too much, or things become too crowded, you can always drive to a campground and spend a few days vacationing away from the vacation.

So, if you have a desire to see family even though they may be scattered to all the corners of the country, the RV is the best option.

MARTINSVILLE, VA (October 15, 2007) – David and Kathy Moore are like any proud homeowners, surveying their neighborhood, preparing for an evening meal with neighbors as the sun begins to slip behind the Blue Ridge Mountains.Except this isn’t any neighborhood and their home isn’t your average brick and mortar home. The Moores were part of over 150 campers who rolled into Martinsville Speedway’s campground when it opened early Saturday morning.

That figure more than doubled on Sunday and will grow all week leading up to Sunday’s SUBWAY 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race at the historic track.

While the Moores were part of the large influx on Saturday, they were also part of a smaller group that gathers together twice a year in the Martinsville Speedway campground.

By next Sunday there will be 21 people and seven campers (trailers) in this group,” said David Moore.

The group sets up on the hillside overlooking the backstretch, cobbling their campers together to form a close neighborhood, sort of like a modern day circling of wagons.

On Saturday the Moores, who hail from Henderson, N.C., were set up on the hillside, along with couples from Roanoke, Raleigh and Franklinton, N.C. They were expecting a couple from West Virginia early Sunday and another couple from Mississippi on Wednesday.

The group has grown over the years and they now visit more than just the two yearly trips to Martinsville. Last year they all gathered at Kerr Lake for Kathy’s 50th birthday party. Even the couple from Mississippi flew up for the occasion.

That was special,” Kathy said of her birthday gathering. And it all was because of us meeting here in the campground.

Traditions have grown out of the bi-annual Martinsville meetings. Now the group kicks off the racing season with a huge Daytona 500 party at the Moore’s house in Henderson. Everyone tows their campers to the Moores and set up in the back yard for a long weekend.

The Moores were particularly touched by their Martinsville experience a year ago. Kathy’s father passed away a week before they were to come to Martinsville. They made the trip, but David was late arriving with their camper and Kathy didn’t get to town until midweek.

It still makes me tear up a little bit talking about it … about how everyone treated us here,” said David. “I came (to the campground) really late at night and the campground workers stopped me and wanted to know how I was and how Kathy was. Everyone from the track was so respectful to us and our group was so respectful and cared so much. Take any race track in the world and last year, and they wouldn’t have made us feel as good as they did here.

You don’t get that kindness at most places,” said Kathy. “That’s why we look forward to coming here so much. It’s like home.”

And it’s not really about the race,” added David.“It’s about friends.”

Tickets remain for both the SUBWAY 500 on Sunday, October 21, and the Kroger 200 NASACAR Craftsman Truck Series race, on Saturday, October 20, and can be purchased by calling 1.877.RACE.TIX. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.racetickets.com

Ticket prices for the SUBWAY 500 range from $42 to $77. Tickets for the Kroger 200 are $37 in advance and $42 at the gate. Kroger 200 tickets for children ages 6 to 12 are $5.

The SUBWAY 500 weekend kicks off on October 19 with Carilion Pole Day, featuring times trials and practice for the SUBWAY 500.

The Kroger 200 is scheduled for October 20 and the SUBWAY 500 on October 21.

The RV industry is seeing significant gains in the past years with record sales and ownerships. A major cause for this is the baby boomer. As this generation reaches retirement age, they have a significant amount of savings and the drive to embark on RV ownership.

Baby boomers’ primary attraction to RVs is in large part due to the ease and luxury the vehicles offer when traveling. Baby boomers are used to having the absolute best in life and they continue this with their RVs. The market for RV accessories and features is growing as baby boomers demand state of the art technology to make their own lives easier while traveling.

Fantastic innovations are being released with each new model and baby boomer consumers are eager to snatch them up. It would seem that baby boomers prefer luxury and are willing to pay the price for it.

As baby boomers find themselves with an empty home, money to spare, and time to waste, they are turning to the possibility of travel. RVs provide an affordable and easy way for them to get where they want to go while exploring everything in between. Many baby boomers are even opting to use the RV as a primary residence, selling their foundation based homes so they can travel all year round.

With such a decision, the baby boomers make sure to purchase an RV that meets and exceeds any and all demands and desires. Future RV sales only promise to grow as more and more baby boomers reach the age of 50 and up.

Baby boomers are also affecting everything connected to the RVs, including campgrounds. The amount of campgrounds around the US is increasing as more RVs take to the road. Campgrounds are no longer just a place in the remote woods with a pay phone and a small office; they are beginning to reflect the luxurious lifestyle of baby boomers.

Elite resorts complete with pools, golf courses and Wi-Fi capabilities are springing up all over the country to meet the demand. These resorts are ideal for the RVers who would rather not rough it in the wild but still need that sense of freedom that has attracted them to an RV in the first place.

The RV industry is more than happy to meet the desires of the baby boomer generation, recognizing that this group is more willing to spend money on deluxe vehicles. Baby boomers enjoy the advancements and options that are presented to them and often, this type of marketing is the final push that gets them on the road.

Baby boomers have a large impact on any industry and the RV industry is no different.

There are plenty of comparison guides to help with this decision and the internet is a good resource as well.

When comparing RVs it is important to compare similar RVs with one another. You certainly would not compare a Class A to a Fifth Wheel and vice versa. Keep the comparison in the same category.

Size and weight tend to be common factors, so see if one brand offers more than the other. For instance,

a forty-five foot RV could offer just two bedrooms in one brand and three bedrooms in the next, and if you have use and need for that extra room, then your decision is made.

After buying your first RV, you will come to better understand what you need and even develop a loyalty to the brand that fits you best.

Features alone should not control how you compare the RV. How well they treat their customers, their warranty policy, and how fast they can take care of any problems need to also be considered.

For answers to these concerns, it is advisable to ask other RVers who have first hand knowledge. Some will relate horror stories and cautionary tales, and others will sing the praises and may do so for the brand that you were just warned against. Weigh each testimonial carefully before settling on a brand.

Another factor to consider is if the brands you are comparing will be able to meet the same needs. You do not want to get stuck with something that does not suit you. If you are going to be a full timer, consider brands that cater to this lifestyle. If you are going to only stay on the road one or two months or less, find a brand that is best.

Two of the most popular RV brands on the market today are Winnebago and Fleetwood.

Winnebago is a trusted manufacturer of RVs and have been around for several decades. Fleetwood has been around since the mid-twenties. Both of the brands are trusted by most RVers. Both manufacturers feature deluxe models as well as towed RVs. Their customer service is well received.

Winnebago and Fleetwood are constantly innovating and improving the RV and it may be a good idea to start your RV search with these brands, as they tend to offer something for everybody.

Welcome to RVtimes.wordpress.com. This is my first post. Blogging is something I’m learning about so, bear with me. I will be sharing with you some experiences and content that I feel will be of much interest to you as fellow RVers! Don’t let this one pass you by!

Man, the times under those star filled nights and many campfires can’t be beat! Smelling those campfires is something that gets me going. In a the world of digital technology and the fast lane of life, there is nothing that compares to a RVing trip with family and friends. I love camping, as you can tell. Ask my kids! They have been dragged on trips everywhere. Sure, there was some grumbling and “not again’s”. But if you were to ask today, they would tell you that it was some of the best times in our lives together as a family.

You see, there’s nothing like those ole family times together when it is “just us”. That time where you have to spend time with one another and that’s all there is to it! But through that comes the greatest bonding experiences. Where you depend on one another to be there and to communicate on a special level of sharing, working and talking with each other to understand more deeply who your family members are as individuals and as people. I love my family very deeply. And as we shared those one-on-one times as a family unit, we’ve grown together and shared that special bond no one can take away.

Family togetherness is by far the biggest part missing today! In a world with all these other diversions around us we tend to take one another for granted. We assume that because we see each other occasionally and sleep in the same house it’s all okay, but we are missing out on the quality time to be spent together. As the years roll by and our lives become more engulfed in the trenches of society , we look back and wonder “where did all the time go”? Well, you see, I don’t have that problem and I thank God everyday for that. I was afforded the opportunity to share that precious time with my wife and children.

Life is but a mere speck of time! And we can’t get back what we have let slip away. I strongly encourage you to heed these words and take even a small amount of time to go camping with your family. Even if some of your other family members don’t like camping, encourage them to try it. I guarantee you it will be the experience of a lifetime, and the togetherness and time with your family will be talked about for years to come.
